CALL FOR CUBSMASTER
Second has maintained a more than a 100-year relationship with the Boy Scouts of America. We currently need a Cubmaster for Pack 18. The Cub Pack has recently let its charter between Second and the Boy Scouts of America lapse. The Pack is very important for the service to youth in our area as well as providing a feeder to the two scout troops at Second Church, Troop 18 (Boys) and Troop 171 (Girls). Cub Scouting is a co-ed movement.
Although the Cubmaster’s role is important, it is a collaborative effort. The Cubmaster is responsible for coordinating all the pack’s activities and leadership plus motivating both the boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade (ages 6 to 10) and the adults. The Cubmaster (male or female) is supported by a Pack Committee with a Committee Chairperson that coordinates, plans, and makes the program happen. The Cubmaster is also supported by assistant Cubmasters and Den Leaders that work with the individual age and rank groups of youth. Additionally, online training provides tools and resources for the position.
The Cubmaster need is immediate, but it does not have to be a long-term commitment. If one or two people step forward to help us get the pack restarted, we can continue the search for a long-term Cubmaster. Of course, you may just find that you love the job and the opportunity to lead and influence the children of our church neighborhoods.
