We welcome members of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra as our guests today. In celebration of the German Reformation and of J.S. Bach’s admiration of Martin Luther, they will play the three movements of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 in D major, BWV 1050 as the prelude, offertory and postlude. The Brandenburg Concertos form a collection of six instrumental works for various combinations of instruments that were presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt,in 1721 (though probably composed earlier).
