Giving blood may seem like a small gesture, but it is a great help to those facing medical emergencies in our community. We are grateful to our Deacons for continuing to organize this important work and partner with Versiti to make a difference!
Ministering to our community includes providing the resources needed during a time of crisis for hope and healing. Donating blood is a powerful way to show compassion and contribute to the well-being of patients in our city. Versiti Blood Center of Indiana is experiencing a critical need for blood donors. All donors are required to register and wear personal masks or face coverings. Donors should feel well and in good health. Individuals must wait two days after the day of vaccination to donate blood or platelets.
As of March 26, 2021 Versiti has stopped testing for the COVID-19 Antibody on blood donations. The limited FDA authorization for performing these tests on blood was intended for use in identifying COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) donors. Due to the rapid expansion of improved pharmaceutical therapies for treating COVID-19, we will discontinue CCP collection. This means Versiti is additionally required to discontinue testing.
