Thriving Families Initiative

The Thriving Families Initiative is a neighborhood-based, faith-rooted initiative designed to connect families experiencing economic hardship ("Good Families") with middle- and upper-income community members ("Good Neighbors") through sustained, authentic, and mutually enriching relationships. Our founding partners—Second Presbyterian Church, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, and Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana—anchor this work through deep community presence, institutional trust, and operational capacity.

Program Components include a mission coach, community gatherings (meet ups), good neighbor-good family teams and targeted supports.

Our key faith and action priorities:

  • Housing: Coaching and support in navigating stable & gainful housing options in high-opportunity communities.
  • Education: Academic and broader learning support for children and parenting guidance for adults.
  • Employment: Job opportunities, placement, mentorship, and skill-building.
  • Health: Behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual health fostered through community and care.
  • Social Capital: Bridging social capital is our core strategy—what most anti-poverty efforts lack.
