Footsteps of Faith (High School Seniors)
All seniors in high school who are members of Second Presbyterian Church are invited to fill out this application for our Footsteps of Faith experience. We are really excited about our year together!
This is an exciting time for you as you prepare to finish high school and move on to the next set of adventures life has in store. During your senior year, deep questions will continue to present themselves in new ways. Faith will likely be a part of that discussion.
Footsteps of Faith is a way in which we can investigate our questions together honestly through the lenses of faith and theology and our contemporary setting. This experience will challenge us all to think on a completely different level about life and faith. This journey is led by the Senior Lake Fellows, as well as the Youth Staff but is dependent on your engagement.
Footsteps is a journey. We will take a trek through the life of the early church, the Acts of the Apostles, and the writings of the apostles. In these sources, we hear the earliest stories of the Christian faith and experience our own lives echoed in the voices of the ancients. The Footsteps journey culminates with an amazing trip to Greece, Ephesus in Turkey, and Italy to walk in the footsteps of the apostles.
The Footsteps journey has the potential to be truly transformative for all willing to invest themselves in it. You will be amazed at what you discover about yourself, others, faith, and God. The journey will entail Sunday morning gatherings, a fall retreat, special group trips, occasional reflection assignments during the week, and participation as a liturgist in worship once during the year.
The application for Footsteps of Faith is available online each year beginning August 1. We appreciate your honesty and depth of thought as you apply. The application is designed to give the leaders a better understanding of why you want to participate and what you hope to gain from this experience. Applications are due September 3 and are reviewed in order of receipt and according to the answers provided. Remember to include a picture with the signature page.
