An Evening with Carrie Newcomer

Songwriter, recording artist, performer, educator and activist, Carrie Newcomer comes to Second on Thursday, May 11 presenting a concert with pianist, Gary Walters, and Second’s own Sanctuary Choir, under the direction of Dr. Michelle Louer. Newcomer has 19 nationally released albums and three books of poetry and essays, "A Permeable Life: Poems and Essays", "The Beautiful Not Yet: Poems and Essays & Lyrics", and "Until Now: New Poems". Her song, "I Should’ve Known Better" appeared on Nickel Creek’s Grammy-winning gold album "This Side", and she earned an Emmy for her PBS special, "An Evening with Carrie Newcomer".

The Sanctuary Choir joins Carrie Newcomer for a specially commissioned arrangement of "Betty’s Diner".
