Opportunities to Receive Care
If you or a loved one is going through illness, surgery, or hospitalization, rehab, or hospice care, please let us know.
Contact Ashley McNamara. Depending on your needs and wishes, Ashley will be able to add you to the intercessory prayer list, coordinate pastoral visits or home communion, or initiate other types of care.
If you experience a death in your family, even if the deceased is not a member of the church, please let us know.
Contact Ashley McNamara or call the church to speak with the pastor on call so that we might pray for you and your family and later invite you to the May Memorial Service. This service, held in May each year, is an opportunity to gather with others who know the pain of loss and grief, receiving the comfort of community and looking together toward the hope of the resurrection. We read aloud the names of those who have died in the previous year and we plant a tree in their memory.
Share a Prayer Request
We are a community that prays for one another. Share your joys and concerns with us by visiting SecondChurch.org/Care to utilize our online prayer request form, or call the church during normal business hours to speak with the pastor on call.
Service of Wholeness and Communion
Anyone seeking prayer and assurance of God’s presence and blessing in the midst of illness, uncertainty, or celebration may attend this brief worship service held on Sunday mornings. This service is contemplative in nature and primarily centered on scripture, prayer, and communion. Those who attend also have the opportunity to receive prayer and anointing. View full service times at SecondChurch.org/Worship.
Receive Home Communion
We believe that the Lord’s Supper sustains us throughout our life of faith. Every Sunday after worship, our deacons are out in the community delivering home communion. Our hope is to serve those who cannot physically come to church, whether for a short period, or long-term. To learn more or request home communion, contact Ashley McNamara, or (317) 726-5413.
Support Groups
We have an array of support groups aimed at creating space for community and companionship amid life’s challenges. Some of the groups we have offered include groups for grief, Parkinson’s, fertility and pregnancy loss, Alzheimer’s and dementia, and caring for aging parents. Visit our Support Group page for up-to-date information about current offerings.
Talk with one of our pastors
Whether over coffee, in a hospital room, at your home or at the church, our pastors consider it a holy privilege to spend time in conversation and prayer with you. To request a pastoral visit, contact Ashley McNamara.
CenterPoint Counseling
The licensed therapists of CenterPoint Counseling provide professional counseling services and programs for individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds, religions, and economic circumstances. Visit CenterPointCounseling.org to learn more.
Pastoral Care
“Pastoral care” or “pastoral counseling” commonly refers to the type of individual support that a pastor might provide in times of hardship or transition. Pastors are trained to offer a listening presence, spiritual support, and prayer. A pastor can also help identify other sources of support, such as counseling with a counselor or therapist, or support groups within the church. To learn more, contact Ashley McNamara.
Funeral and Memorial Services
The death of a loved one can be a grief-filled and overwhelming time. We are here to help. Our Sanctuary and Chapel are available for funeral and memorial services, and we also have spaces available to host a calling or a reception. Please see our Funeral Page for full details.
