About our October Speaker:
Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1934, Don Brindle grew up in a devoted Presbyterian family, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and learning. He earned his engineering degree in 1957 from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) and spent 41 years with GM in engineering leadership roles, including two years in Augsburg, Germany. For 25 years, he worked on U.S. Army tanks used in Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm, later joining Allison Transmission in Indianapolis to oversee major global projects until his 1993 retirement.
Retirement became Don’s most rewarding season. Guided by faith, he helped The Polis Center at IUPUI become a sustainable enterprise and found deep fulfillment through the Mission Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church—especially the Northside Mission Food Pantry and Community Garden. Don and his beloved wife, Joyce, have shared 66 years of marriage, three sons, and four grandchildren—all college graduates and sources of great joy. As Don likes to say, "We have exceeded all expectations and are still going strong!"
