Memorizing the Lord's Prayer is a milestone in faith formation. It is not only the one Jesus instructed his disciples to pray, but it is part of the corporate worship experience. This Advent formation experience for third graders functions in two ways: it is a "deep dive" into the New Testament as children learn about the values of Jesus as they learn the prayer, and it is a ceremony of belonging as the children memorize the prayer and then lead the congregation in reciting it on Christmas Eve. Through storytelling, game, and art, and breaking bread together (dinner will be provided each night!) third graders will build community and compassion as they participate in this four-week series.
