Good morning, Second Presbyterian Church! With great joy and excitement, we introduce you today to Rev. Mike Samson, a faithful servant leader called by the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee of your church to serve as Second’s Associate Pastor of Engagement. Praise be to God for the work of this committee and the ministry of this chosen leader! We invite you to take part in our Virtual Congregational Meeting following 11:00 online worship this morning where we will vote on this call and advance this great work. There's still time to register! The video above speaks to Mike’s passion for ministry and his conviction in this new call. In his own words, “it is a joy and privilege to be in a vocation that allows me to deeply invest in my love for God and people…helping people make deeper connections with Christ and with one another, in the church and in all walks of life.” Mike has been a pastor for 14 years, serving on staff at congregations in the Midwest (Indiana) and on the East Coast (New Jersey). He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree, followed by post-graduate work at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Theology degree. Following graduation from Gordon-Conwell, Mike served in the Lake Fellow in Parish Ministry program here at Second – nearly 15 years ago! Mike’s call to disciple others and share the Good News of Jesus Christ begins in his home – where he is dad to Matthew (10) and Luke (7), and husband to Kelly. Sports fans, musicians, and active in their community, the Samson family will bring great joy to all of us at Second. Their witness of Christ’s love and trust in God’s call already leads by beautiful example. Please join me in welcoming Rev. Mike Samson, Kelly, Matthew, and Luke into the life of this body of Christ.
