Confirmation (Niners)

As we gather online in the coming weeks, here are some handouts we'll be discussing each week:

Week 7: You Are Gifted

You are gifted.
You are God's gift.
You are called.
You are needed.
You are necessary.

We encourage you to download and begin working on this Statement of Faith document.

Week 6: What is Worship?

When was a time when you sensed the presence of the divine.? What do you think of when you hear the word “worship”? See you Wednesday when we talk about worship together. Please download and begin working on this Statement of Faith document and take some time to watch or rewatch worship from this past weekend

Week 5: Your Life, A Song

Why is music so important to us? Why do we sing together when we gather?

Week 4: Lectio Divina and Bible Blackout

Here are two activities designed to help you as you read the Bible. Many people have difficulty when they try to just sit down and read the Bible. These approaches break down some of the barriers and open up creativity. Even though these handouts are designed around two specific passages, they can be used at any time with any passage of your own choosing. Be creative and have fun!

Week 3: Walking Through Together

Walking through Holy Week and social distancing together

Week 2: Niners Prayer Exercises

In this document you will find five different prayer exercises. These will likely feel like an unusual approach to prayer. Suspend your expectations and allow your imagination and creativity to be engaged.

Week 1: What Does It Mean to Be Presbyterian

Freshman year is a year of transition. There are many things changing all at the same time. There is a lot to be excited about, and, if we are honest, a lot to freak out about -- a new school; a different and busier schedule; new friends; important decisions; new questions. Some things will probably be tougher to handle than others. Some decisions will be more difficult to make. Some questions will be harder to answer. Some stuff you may want to avoid all together.

Wouldn’t it be good if there were a place where you could be honest with people who are your age about all of this?
Wouldn’t it be nice if there were a place you could go where you, your concerns, and your questions were taken seriously?
Wouldn’t it be great to find a spot you could go and completely be you?

We believe that Niners is such a place.

  • Niners is a place where you can meet and get to know some amazing people you may never have the opportunity to get to know otherwise.
  • Niners provides an opportunity to interact with your questions and uncertainties about life and faith honestly.
  • Niners is an experience.
  • Niners is a journey of faith.
  • Niners is confirmation.

Niners meets almost every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:00 p.m., September through May. Pizza will be available each week. Wednesday nights are our main time for Niners. It is important that you are there as much as possible. There is also a Sunday morning time for those who miss Wednesday’s gathering.

It doesn’t matter why you come to Niners; we just want you to be there. It has the potential to be something unforgettable and wonderful. But it cannot be all it could be without you. Contact the youth department of the church with any questions.
