Guest Artist in Worship

Dave Meder

SUNDAY, JANUARY 27

Special guest artist Dave Meder shares music with our congregation during the 11:10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, January 27. A finalist in the 2018-2019 American Jazz Finals Competition (American Pianists Association), Meder has performed in some of New York’s most hallowed rooms, including several headlining stands at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, and internationally at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, Torino Jazz Festival, and others.

In addition to providing music for prelude and offertory, Meder plays an arrangement of Duke Ellington’s “Come Sunday” with the Sanctuary Choir and Dr. Michelle L. Louer for the Call to Worship.

Dave Meder grew up playing in church his whole life. As a youth he played in a Florida Baptist church and currently serves as a music worship leader in New York at Fordham Lutheran Church. As a jazz performer, hymns have always been a part of his musical self, and he always includes a hymn in his sets. A finalist in the 2018-2019 American Jazz Finals Competition of the American Pianists Association located in Indianapolis, Meder has performed in some of New York’s most hallowed rooms, including several headlining stands at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, and internationally at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, and others.

While in Indianapolis, Meder performs Saturday, January 26 at the Jazz Kitchen in his first live-adjudicated performance of the competition, and takes the stage at Hilbert Circle Theatre in Indianapolis for the Gala Finals on April 6.
