Monday Memo - August 3, 2020
Good afternoon, Second Family! As you dive into the waves of this new week, know that your church is here to wade alongside you. This week, our Session will meet to welcome new elders and continue their ministry of discernment and leadership (we will share the fruit of their work in next week’s Monday Memo), a blood drive will happen in our parking lot, Bible studies and more will happen across homes and screens. And as always, the staff of Second is here to support you. Together we are growing in our faith, serving our community, and investing in our mission to be a place where Jesus Christ transforms lives. Let’s not lose sight of what we’ve learned, what we’re still learning about ourselves and our God in the crucible of this daunting year. Remember, if we’re not changing we’re not growing. If we’re not growing we’ve stopped living. Let conversion be a gift to welcome, an invitation to accept. With peace and grace,

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS! Continuing our mission work, this weekend our church family safely packed more than 3,000 school supply kits for Washington Township students. With your help, these local students are starting the year surrounded by notebooks, pencils, and prayer! You can still donate to cover the cost of supplies. Would you like to do more? Adopt a classroom! WELCOME DENNIS NORRIS! Dennis Norris has joined Second as Director of Facilities Management and Security. His diverse career path includes law enforcement and oversight of the construction and facility management of military compounds in Afghanistan and Mali. He also has extensive experience in the non-profit arena. Send a note of welcome to Dennis! As we turn the calendar page to August, we celebrate the following staff members who celebrated July anniversaries at Second: Rev. Brian Shivers (30 years), Martha Nommay (14 years), John Allegar (8 years), Ann VanMeter (1 year), and Hannah Arnold (1 year). We are grateful that these fabulous people are sharing their gifts with us. Send them a note of congratulations today!

Our weekly prayer services continue on August 6. This week join Dr. John Koppitch on Facebook Live, with Rev. David Berry moderating comments.
