HYMN #150 Come, Christians, Join to Sing was first published in 1843 in a collection entitled Sacred Melodies for Children. As a children’s Sunday School song, the
original opening line was “Come children,join to sing.” The second word was later changed to “Christians” to make the text inclusive of all ages. The simple tune of “Madrid” was probably derived from a Spanish folk song.
