HYMN #400 When We Are Living (Pues Si Vivimos) is based on Romans 14:8: “If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.” Its origins are truly that of a folk hymn. The melody and first stanza seem to have appeared anonymously in Mexico and circulated orally for many years. Roberto Escamilla added additional stanzas which appear in our hymnal.
