Hymn #392 Take Thou Our Minds, Dear Lord
A collaboration of two Presbyterian pastors. The tune was composed by Rev. Calvin Laufer, He requested his friend Dr. William Hiram to write a “devotional hymn for the young people that will challenge their hearts and minds.” After hearing Laufer hum his melody, Foulkes relates that “the words of the first three stanzas came to me almost spontaneously.” Three years later he added the fourth verse.
