Rev. Brian Shivers
Brian Shivers has directed youth ministries at Second Presbyterian Church since 1990, and now serves as the senior staff liaison to the session committee of Spiritual Life. He received his master of divinity degree at Christian Theological Seminary in 2010 and was ordained into ministry of Word and Sacrament in the spring of 2011. He was also called and installed as the Associate Pastor of Youth and College Ministries.
Brian was born and raised in Marion, Indiana, where he attended Marion High School. He played sports and sang in a school choir. Brian met his wife Jennifer during high school at church.
Both Brian and Jennifer attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. After considering a math major, Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Christian education and a certificate in youth ministries. While at Taylor, Brian and Jennifer served as the youth ministers at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Marion. The couple married in December 1987 at College Wesleyan Church, with Brian’s grandfather presiding.
The Shivers live in Washington Township with their wonderful teenage daughter, their chocolate lab, and tuxedo cat. Brian has an older brother and sister, both of whom live in the Indianapolis area.
Tyler Wolfcale grew up in Indianapolis area and graduated from Carmel High School, where he participated in track and field, and Ambassadors Show Choir. He was involved in leadership and worship music at East 91st Street Christian Church. In May 2009, Tyler graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Public Affairs. While at IU, he was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and captain of their cycling team, which he now coaches. Also while in Bloomington, Tyler led worship music weekly for college and young adult ministry.
Stephanie Kandrac Bewley grew up in the Meridian Kessler area of Indianapolis. She attended North Central High School, where she was involved in many choirs, including Counter Points. She was also a member of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and the Indianapolis Youth Chorale.
Stephanie attended Indiana University and majored in Sociology. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi and is still active in the organization. Throughout college Stephanie volunteered with the youth program at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Her experience at St. Luke’s helped to nurture the passion she has for working with youth.
Stephanie’s mother lives in Indianapolis and attends Second. Her sister Aimee also lives in Indianapolis with her husband and two children. Stephanie loves spending time with her niece and nephew. She joined the staff of Second in June of 2002, fresh out of college, and still loves every minute!
